The UIP is an international organisation representing phlebology societies aiming to improve the standards of education, research and healthcare in the management of venous and lymphatic disorders and to provide a platform for scientific exchange and dialogue amongst its members and the wider community.

The UIP aims to strengthen collaboration and foster harmony between its member societies to achieve a higher standard of healthcare, education, training and scientific research in phlebology.

The core values of the UIP include promotion of organisational transparency, encouraging member accountability and practising objectivity.

The UIP aims to achieve its objectives by advancing:

1. awareness, skills and the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of phlebology;
2. teaching and education as well as training and continuing medical education;
3. consensus on all aspects of phlebology;
4. scientific research and academic initiatives in phlebology;
5. healthcare standards in the management of patients with venous and lymphatic disorders;
6. encourages formation of phlebology societies especially in countries where the field needs further development;
7. collaboration between the societies or associations, either existing or to be created, which have a special interest in phlebology.
