International Union of Phlebology

"We are just a 'minute' in the historical timeline of our glorious Organization, and it is up to us to make it a minute that counts or one that simply passes by.

With this thought in mind, it is my privilege, on behalf of the entire World Union of International Phlebolymphology (WUIP), to express my deepest gratitude to the many individuals, from so many different countries, who have contributed to making History, minute after minute.

In this spirit, I would like to begin by acknowledging those who are not usually visible on the front line: those who continue to offer a welcoming smile while quietly managing the countless technical and organizational challenges that an institution of this size inevitably brings.

There are some wonderful paradoxes within our global vein-lymphatic community. We focus on Science, yet Science creates the opportunity for the strongest Social connections, to the point that WUIP events, while maintaining their institutional character, can feel like a large family reunion.

We honor the history of our Organization, yet we proactively move forward, working together to build the most ethical, inclusive, and appropriate future for vein-lymphatic care.

This mission was clearly reflected in the overwhelming support for the evolution of our name from UIP to WUIP, recognizing the truly global dimension of THE World Organization bringing together 90 Scientific Societies from every continent, while remaining open to each and every vein and lymphatic practitioner willing to take part in this historic journey toward the future.

Finally, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Executive Committee, whose members have shared and continue to share this extraordinary journey with me.
