Paul THIBAULT

Dr. Paul Thibault, MB.BS, DRACOG, FACP, FACCP graduated in medicine and surgery at the University of Sydney and worked in General Practice for 11 years before specialising in Phlebology and Cosmetic Medicine from 1988. In 1993 he founded the Sclerotherapy Society of Australia and was then Founding President of the Australasian College of Phlebology (ACP) in 2000. Dr. Thibault has served as Honorary Treasurer of the ACP since 2004.

Dr. Thibault was editor of the ANZ Journal of Phlebology from 1999 to 2004 and is currently Assistant Editor of “Phlebology”. He has written many peer reviewed articles in medical journals in the field of phlebology and has contributed to major textbooks on venous diseases. Dr. Thibault is known for his pioneering work in the non-surgical treatment of varicose and spider veins, the use of duplex ultrasound to assess venous disease and the technique of ultrasound guided sclerotherapy to treat major varicose veins.

He has also developed a research interest in chronic venous obstruction in the neck veins and its association with chronic diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS), chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and rosacea. This research and clinical interest includes diagnosis and management of chronic persistent Chlamydophila pneumoniae infection.

In his spare time, Dr. Thibault breeds alpacas in the high country (New England Region) of NSW, Australia. He is the convenor of the New England Alpaca Show that is held annually. He occasionally gets to play a game of golf and enjoys latin dancing and cruising.
